Today I present a beautiful Austrian label of children´s couture made of felted wool. As I told you the other day, I love wool and its properties make it an ideal textile for babies and kids.
Verena Wondrak, mother of little Matilda, is the founder of Hilda.Henri, a label for cutting edge children`s couture with traditional roots based in Vienna. Hilda.Henri is dedicated to sustainable children`s couture for children of 2 to 16 years made from boiled wool. the Alpine farming fabric we know so well from the traditional Alpine costumes. Verena has successfully transformed the dusty image of walk/milled loden playing with colorful details, daring color combinations, modern cuts and details. Hilda.Henri is all about timeless pieces that will be loved for a long time.
Inspired by old handcraft traditions and the magic of nature and childhood, Hilda.Henri makes modern, sustainable couture for daring adventurers, playground dandies, urban elves, cheerful dreamers and little artists.
Hilda.Henri manufactures boiled wool of the highest quality from Austrian pure new wool following the rules of traditional craftsmanship without using chemical additives. To make milled loden the traditional method of felting wool is applied using water, heat and friction.
Wool felted fabrics are comfortable, lightweight, durable, resistant, water repellent and breathable: Nature´s high-tech material. Have a look at my post summarizing wool´s properties that make it an ideal textile for kids.
